Thibodaux Regional
Announces PROJECT2000
Thibodaux Regional Medical Center recently
announced its upcoming $18 million phase of construction. Called
PROJECT2000, this expansion plan is one of many steps Thibodaux
Regional is taking to ready itself for the new millennium. PROJECT2000
will allow Thibodaux Regional to further advance patient care
and keep members of our community well into the future.
This construction project will consist
of renovation of much of Thibodaux Regional's existing facility,
as well as construction of new space. Several departments will
be relocated to enhance staff and visitor circulation patterns.
All renovations and additions will incorporate the very latest
in medical technology.
New construction will include a state-of-the-art
Emergency Center to be located at the back of the Medical Mall,
more than 450 new parking spaces for visitors and staff and a
two-story addition at the rear of the hospital. The two-story
addition will add 30 private rooms on the second floor and will
provide space for various hospital clinical and support services
on the ground floor. New construction will total approximately
50,000 square feet.
The new Emergency Center will allow
Thibodaux Regional to offer an even higher level of medical care
to ill and injured patients. The new facility will contain some
of the most advanced treatment technology available today and
will be much more spacious, private and comfortable. Support
service department renovations/relocations include the Business
Office, Accounting, Mail/Copy, Information Services, Quality
Resource Management, Human Resources, Marketing, Medical Records,
Communications, Dining, Food Service, Biomedical and Environmental
Services. The Inpatient Services Lobby, Meditation Room, Volunteer
Services and Gift Shop areas also will be relocated and/or renovated.
Clinical areas slated for expansion/renovation/relocation
include Radiology, Laboratory Cardiopulmonary Services, Behavioral
Health Services, Pharmacy and other specialty clinics. Thibodaux
Regional also will add three new Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum
suites (LDRPs) in the Family Birthing Center on the third floor.
According to David Snyder, Chief Executive
Officer, all aspects of PROJECT2000 have been designed with patient
comfort and convenience in mind. Renovations and new construction
will simplify getting around the Medical Center and will make
the entire hospital environment brighter, more spacious and comfortable
and even more modern. Relocated departments will be grouped together
for optimum efficiency and speed of service.
"We are embarking on PROJECT2000
as a way to continue our commitment to offering the very best
medical care to residents of our region," Snyder says. "When
the project is complete in approximately 36 months, we will have
made access to services at Thibodaux Regional easier and better
than ever. We also have grown very rapidly and need more room
for expansion of current services and the addition of new ones,"
he continues.
"Service quality and convenience
will be the hallmarks of PROJECT2000---these attributes have
been behind every decision in every aspect of our planning process
and will continue throughout the construction phase," Snyder
explains.
"Our entire organization---the
Board of Commissioners, Administration, physicians, staff and
volunteers--- is strongly committed to customer service and convenience.
We are excited to have the opportunity to continue to improve
the level of service we offer to residents of South Louisiana
now and as we enter the new millennium."
