Behavioral Health Services
Over the course of our lives we all experience problems or difficulties. Even with the help of friends and family we may find that we are unable to resolve them. Some of these problems might include chronic or acute medical problems, changes or conflict with family or friends, marital conflict, divorce, or widowhood, job status changes, retirement, loss of friends, famiy or social support, or changes in mood, sleep, appetite, digestion or energy levels. Members of our team are highly trained mental health professionals who have broad experience in the treatment of cognitive, emotional and behavioral disorders. The team includes psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, therapists, occupational therapists and technicians.
The Outpatient Counseling Program provides treatment for individuals who would benefit from therapy once weekly. The number of weekly visits is adjusted on an individual basis according to the patient's needs. This program provides individual, marital, family and group therapy for persons 16 years of age and older by a licensed clinical social work therapist. Referrals for counseling can be made by a medical professional or by self-referral. Private insurance and Medicare are accepted.

The Medical Geriatric Psychiatric Unit at Thibodaux Regional provides intensive medical-psychiatric treatment and medication stabilization. Patients must be 55 years old or older and suffer from a primary psychiatric problem complicated by a medical issue.
The delicate balance of treating both medical and mental diagnosis for the geriatric population requires carefully managing medications and treatment activities focused on stabilization and returning the patient to their normal routine as rapidly as possible. Aftercare appointments, including nursing home placement are provided upon discharge from the program.

Outpatient Behavioral Health:
Partial Hospitalization Program & Intensive Outpatient Program
Outpatient services offer the advantages of intensive treatment while allowing the individual to return home at night. These programs meet the needs of patients who experience severe psychiatric or behavioral symptoms, but do not need inpatient treatment. During the course of treatment, the family is encouraged to participate in the plan of care. Based on initial assessments and individualized treatment plans the outpatient programs address the specific problems or symptoms which are the most troublesome for each patient. Medication management and treatment activities are provided throughout the programs. Transportation is also available on a case by case basis. Medicaid and private insurance accepted.
