Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Earns Accreditation Thibodaux Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that its Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has been awarded certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Certification recognizes those programs rigorously reviewed by a national board and found to meet the outlined essential requirements for standards of care. The AACVPR is a national, multi-disciplinary association dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, promotion of scientific inquiry and advancement of education for the benefit of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation professionals and the patients they serve. Thibodaux Regional's Cardiac Rehabilitation service assists medical and surgical cardiac patients in recovering from a heart attack, heart surgery or other heart-related problems. The program also assists individuals with cardiovascular risk factor modification. The Cardiac Rehab Team works with patients on an individual basis to design a program that includes fitness, nutrition counseling and group support. The three-phase program begins as soon as the patient enters the hospital. Phase I helps the patient to regain his or her previous level of activity or higher. Phase II is an outpatient program designed to enhance and maintain physical conditioning with supervised exercise. Through continuing education programs, the individual is taught techniques promoting a healthier lifestyle. Phase IV is a maintenance program designed to reinforce the positive health habits a patient has learned and to encourage lifelong fitness. Thibodaux Regional's 4,000 square foot Cardiac Rehabilitation facility features 20 pieces of aerobic exercise equipment and provides a supervised, safe and fun environment to become fit and healthy. return to list of archived press releases
