Cheif of Medical Staff Named

Robert E. Hansen, MD, board-certified cardiovascular surgeon at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, has been named Chief of Staff for 2003. Dr. Hansen earned his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Michigan, completed his internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and his surgical training at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, California.

He then served in the Vietnam War as the commanding officer of a MASH Unit and upon his return, continued his training as a thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Hansen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Hansen succeeds Coleridge Franklin, MD, out-going Chief of Staff. Other members named to the Medical Executive Committee are Gregory Dobard, MD, Vice-Chief of Staff, Vance Broussard, MD, Secretary-Treasurer, and Todd Cowen, MD, and Sheila Pitre, MD, members-at-large.
