Greg Stock named
Chief Executive Officer
Jacob Giardina, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Thibodaux
Regional Medical Center, has announced that Greg Stock has been
named Chief Executive Officer. Stock will assume his position
beginning in October 1999. Stock had previously served as Thibodaux
Regional CEO from 1990-1997. He will replace David Snyder who
resigned in June.
Most recently, Stock has been leading Northwest Health System,
a two-hospital enterprise in Arkansas with nearly 2000 employees.
Stock was responsible for both Northwest Medical Center, 222
beds, in Springdale, and 63-bed Bates Medical Center in Bentonville.
As CEO of Northwest, Stock interacted routinely and worked closely
with executives and employees of WalMart, Tyson Foods and J.B.
Hunt Truck Lines, as the corporate headquarters of these firms
are located in the area.
"We truly are thrilled to have Greg back at the helm of
Thibodaux Regional," says Giardina. "Greg is well-known
in the health care industry for his abilities and accomplishments.
He will bring back to Thibodaux the knowledge and experience
he gained as a result of running a larger, more complex health
system." "Greg also is well-regarded and well-liked
by business leaders and residents of our South Louisiana community.
Everyone seems genuinely happy to hear of his return."
Under Stock's leadership, Thibodaux Regional made significant
progress toward achieving its goal of becoming a true regional
medical center. With his guidance, the hospital experienced significant
growth and progress and was awarded the United States Senate
Productivity Award. Among Stock's contributions to Thibodaux
Regional were the following:
- Doubled the size of the active medical staff
- Increased Thibodaux Regional's inpatient census by more than
45 percent and outpatient visits by 220 percent, numbers that
contrast sharply with national trends toward significantly declining
patient census
- Created state-of-the-art Women's Center Implemented comprehensive
Neuro Center, offering comprehensive neurosurgery and neurology
services, as well as nationally accredited inpatient physical
rehabilitation facility and complete range of outpatient physical
rehabilitation services
- Created Regional Cancer Center
- Initiated Cardiovascular Center featuring latest diagnostic
and therapeutic treatments available, including heart surgery
- Constructed modern, comfortable Medical Mall for provision
of growing outpatient services
Thibodaux Regional is the largest provider of health care

in South Louisiana, with approximately 90,000 inpatient and outpatient
