Relay for Life raises money
for cancer
This year, Relay for Life is traveling around the world without
leaving south Louisiana! Area parishes are pulling together to
raise money to fight cancer and raise awareness of early detection
and education.
Assumption Parish held its Relay for Life event at Assumption
High School on Saturday, March 25. The 22 teams visited places
such as France, Rio, Athens, Australia and Cancun in search of
a cure for cancer. They also went "cruisin' for a cure"
and even made a stop at an International Airport! This Relay
event, only in its second year, raised over $111,000 to fight
cancer! Congratulations to all involved!
Lafourche Parish also is traveling around the world on April
14. With over 125 teams thus far, the event is sure to be a huge
success. The relay will be held at Nicholls State University's
John L. Guidry Stadium from 7 pm until 7 am on Saturday, April
15. The night will include games, contests and a gumbo cook-off.
It also will feature signature events such as the Cancer Survivors
Lap and the Luminary Ceremony. For more information on participating
on a team, making a donation or volunteering, call the Cancer
Center of Thibodaux Regional at (504) 493-4700.
