Thibodaux Regional Launches North Hospital Project

At Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, the Journey to Excellence continues with the launch of the North Hospital Project which is part of a two-year, $70 million expansion and renovation project.

“New doctors are coming, existing services are being expanded, new services are being developed and state-of-the-art buildings and facilities are under construction to accommodate and anticipate the growth that Thibodaux Regional is experiencing,” explained Greg Stock, Chief Executive Officer of Thibodaux Regional. “Presently we are launching what we call the North Hospital Project. This phase of the overall project will include expansion of several key services, including a new Patient Tower, a Heart and Vascular Center, and a new Women’s Center as well as enhancements to the Central Plant, Medical Records Department, and Clinical Laboratory.”

Patient demand for inpatient and outpatient care continues to rise. The new Patient Tower will include the addition of 30 all-private rooms with the ability to add 30 more patient rooms in a relatively short period of time. In all, the Tower will have a structural capacity for up to four floors. All of the rooms will be attractive and comfortable and equipped with the latest technology.

The Heart and Vascular Center is a major addition designed to provide expanded state-of-the-art heart and vascular treatment. The Center will include a new cardiac catheterization and vascular procedures lab in addition to the existing cardiac catheterization lab, and a designated area for cardiopulmonary services.

Additionally, when construction is complete, the Center will feature the latest, state-of-the-art cardiovascular technology. As an added convenience for patients, the Heart and Vascular Center will have a separate covered entrance. The Center also will be constructed to provide for further expansion of the heart and vascular lab.

The new Women’s Center will have more than double the number of Labor, Delivery, Post Partum, Recovery (LDRP) rooms available currently. Each LDRP will be equipped with the latest technology and have a garden view. Additionally, the Center will have a state-of-the-art Nursery, a C-section suite, anti-partum rooms, triage rooms, and the capacity to expand for future growth.

Other enhancements in the North Hospital phase of the overall project include construction of a state-of-the-art Clinical Laboratory, Medical Records Department, and Central Plant facility.

“This is truly an exciting time in the history of our hospital,” Stock emphasized, “as we will nearly double the size of our current facility when the entire project including the North Hospital phase is complete in February 2006."
