Thibodaux Regional Receives Award for Imaging and Technology Innovation
Thibodaux Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that it was
recognized for innovation in health imaging and technology. Thibodaux
Regional received honorable mention in Health Imaging & IT's Top 10
Hospitals of 2003. Awards were given to the most innovative health care
facilities in the United States utilizing digital imaging and information
technology to provide better patient care.
Thibodaux Regional was ranked with other much larger facilities. The top 10
hospitals included Baltimore VA Medical Center, Commonwealth Health
Corporation, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Detroit Medical Center,
Massachusetts General Hospital, ProMedica Health System, Providence Health
System/St. Joseph Medical Center and Holy Cross Medical Center, Sarasota
Memorial Hospital, UCLA Medical Center, and University of Pittsburgh
Medical Center.
"It is a great honor to be recognized along side of such great institutions
as Massachusetts General. We have acquired outstanding new technology and a
lot of information technology," said Greg Stock, Chief Executive Officer of
Thibodaux Regional. "I believe it is one important way we are
differentiating ourselves."
Thibodaux Regional installed the NovaPACS system, a picture archiving
communications system in September 2002, among other significant new
technology acquired. The system provides onsite and remote image reading
capabilities to physicians, and has resulted in quicker diagnoses and lower
costs.
"As a part of the decision-making process we visited a NovaPACS install
site in the area and participated in a hands-on product demonstration,"
said Camile Richard, director of radiology at Thibodaux Regional Medical
Center. "In addition to the system's capabilities, the affordable pricing,
proven track record, and the training services offered as part of the
package made the NovaPACS the clear choice for our facility."
More than 10,000 healthcare industry contacts were involved in the
selection process. Data was collected regarding how each facility
implements, manages and innovates digital imaging. Twenty finalists were
chosen and from these 20, Thibodaux Regional Medical Center was given
honorable mention, one of only two facilities.
