Thibodaux Regional launches expansion and renovation project
At Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, the Journey to Excellence continues with the launch of a $70 million facility expansion and renovation project, including $23 million of additional new technology.
As community members gathered for the bon voyage groundbreaking ceremony and luncheon, hospital leaders took the helm and explained the significance of The Journey to Excellence.
Through the years, the hospital has grown in anticipation and in response to the communitys needs. Today, we are launching the largest expansion project to date in the history of our hospital, explained Jacob Giardina, Chairman, Board of Commissioners, Thibodaux Regional. This expansion will benefit generations to come, he continued.
Chief Executive Officer Greg Stock stated that Thibodaux Regional is one of the highest rated hospitals in the United States for patient satisfaction. This expansion further increases our ability to provide high quality compassionate care, and will help ensure that Thibodaux Regional remains a nationally and regionally recognized health care leader.
According to Stock, the expansion project will double the size of Thibodaux Regionals current facility and create a state-of-the-art healing environment. The project, which is projected to be completed by December 2005, will make Thibodaux Regional look, feel and function like a major medical center.
The project includes a new inpatient bed tower with all private rooms and decentralized nursing areas, expansion of the emergency department, a heart and vascular center, an expanded womens center, a five-story medical office building, a four-story parking garage, a state-of-the-art culinary facility, a breast imaging center and a distinctive new main entrance.
Joining Giardina on the Board of Commissioners of Thibodaux Regional are Harold Block, vice-chairman; Jody Plaisance, MD; Cleveland Hill, PhD; and Eva Jacobs.
