Recognized for Outstanding Achievement
Nationally-recognized Care from the Cancer Center of Thibodaux Regional
The Cancer Center of Thibodaux Regional has years of experience offering
the best diagnostic and treatment technology in the region, and we have
the awards to prove it including Accreditation with Commendation by the
American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
In 2003, Thibodaux Regional’s cancer program earned its first accreditation
from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Since that
time, the program has been re-accredited five times, most recently with
gold-level commendation. The program is a four-time recipient of the Outstanding
Achievement Award (OAA) by the American College of Surgeons.
Recognizing the Best
Established in 2004, the (OAA) was created to recognize cancer programs
that go above and beyond to ensure quality cancer care.
In order to receive the (OAA), a facility must pass an on-site evaluation
by a physician surveyor, demonstrate compliance with a set of six standards
created by the Commission on Cancer, and receive a compliance rating for
the remaining required for accreditation.
These standards are taken from five key areas of program activity, including:
- Cancer committee leadership
- Cancer data management
- Community outreach
- Quality improvement
In light of its dedication to patient care and satisfaction, Thibodaux
Regional was also the first hospital in Louisiana to be recognized by
the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Program and the only
acute-care hospital in the state to earn the Healthgrades Outstanding
Patient Experience and Patient Safety Awards four years in a row.
These recognitions would not have been possible without the excellent teamwork
and communication among staff and physicians.
