Prepare Your Family

Here is what you can do to prepare your family in case COVID-19 spreads in your community.

• Know the signs and symptoms and what to do if you think you have been exposed or have COVID-19

• Take steps for those who are at higher risk

• Protect yourself and your family by continuing to adhere to prevention recommendations

• Create a household plan

  • Consider a two-week supply of prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and food
  • Talk with those who need to be included in your plan (other household members, family and friends)
  • Create an emergency contact list
  • Choose a room in your home that can be used to separate sick household members from those who are healthy
  • Learn how to care for someone with COVID-19 at home

• Identify aid organizations in your community

• Stay informed with reliable sources including the CDC and Louisiana Department of Health

• Stay in contact with others either via phone, text or email

• Take care of the emotional needs of yourself and your family
