Powerful Technology for Superior Outcomes

The innovative technology available at the Cancer Center of Thibodaux Regional is a pivotal component of the hospital’s ability to provide the best cancer care to patients. It is also a reflection of the hospital’s commitment to provide cancer patients with the most advanced technology and treatment available.

Thibodaux Regional never settles for less than the best technological offerings to ensure patients have the best possible chance of defeating cancer and detecting the disease in its earliest stages. In fact, the Cancer Center is a comprehensive cancer program, offering the latest advancements for patients and enabling them to be diagnosed and undergo treatment— including chemotherapy, radiation treatment and minimally invasive procedures using the da Vinci® robotic surgical system.

Specialized Breast Cancer Care

As a leader in the fight against breast cancer, Thibodaux Regional has long been committed to providing the best care possible. This care comes from the heart of our staff and physicians working together with the best technology available.

We were first in the bayou region to offer advanced diagnostic technology such as digital mammography, MRI, and PET/CT with low dose radiation capabilities to help diagnose breast cancer at its earliest stages when the chance for cure is greatest. Digital mammography helps physicians detect breast lesions more effectively than ever before.

“Our CT scanner is one of the most accurate on the market and the only one of its kind in the region,” says Greg Dobard, MD, radiologist at the Cancer Center of Thibodaux Regional. “Patients undergoing chemotherapy don’t feel well, and it means everything to have the latest and most advanced technology right here so they don’t need to travel hours away for access to high-caliber diagnostic imaging modalities.”

The hospital’s investment in technology that reduces radiation exposure for patients demonstrates Thibodaux Regional’s commitment to patient safety throughout the cancer journey. The program has also been accredited by the American College of Radiology for PET/CT imaging, meaning the program upholds the highest standards for quality and patient safety.

“I can only be as good at my profession as my equipment allows me to be, and with this PET/CT scanner, I can be the best because I have access to the best technology,” says Clay Denning, PET/ CT Technologist at the Cancer Center of Thibodaux Regional.

“Thibodaux Regional is 100-percent committed to its patients, and that devotion is what led me here.”

Additionally, for women who are at increased risk for breast cancer, Thibodaux Regional’s advanced MRI breast imaging can detect breast lesions that may have been undetectable by mammogram or ultrasound.

Although the causes of breast cancer aren’t exactly known, by maintaining a healthy weight, exercising and limiting alcohol intake you may reduce your risk. Detecting breast cancer at its earliest stages, by performing monthly self-breast exams, having an annual clinical breast exam and obtaining yearly screening mammograms at age 40 and older provides a greater chance for a cure.

Saving Lives

While the innovative technology available at the Cancer Center of Thibodaux Regional is indicative of the high quality of care offered, the true proof lies in our low mortality rates and patients’ improved quality of life.

With leading-edge technology and use of the best clinical protocols available, Thibodaux Regional’s cancer survival rates exceed national norms for breast, prostate, colon and lung cancer, the four most prevalent forms of cancer in our region.

These numbers are largely due to the extra measures taken by staff members at the Cancer Center of Thibodaux Regional to ensure patients receive the individualized care they deserve. The exceptional team, advanced technology, high standards, and treatment processes and regimens lead to excellent results and treatment outcomes for patients.
